If you look on the back of a Methodist Membership ticket, you will see that, as a follower of Jesus, you are called to each of the four areas of discipleship mentioned above. One area leads to the other, although not necessarily in the order I’ve shown! Together, the four areas equal God’s mission – Our Calling.

The Church Council have decided to re-structure the Church into Action Teams taking the name of each of the four areas. The object is to help us review our current mission, listen to new ideas, and develop a coherent plan for future mission. Do you remember my sabbatical stone path laying? I discovered that the key was to have a clear purpose and do a little – well. We need to be clearer on what we want to do, how much is sustainable, and do it well.

This is where you come in! The four Action Teams need people! A cross-section of the Church – to pray, discuss, listen, reflect and plan – in each area. You can be young or old, new to this Church or a longstanding friend. I would like you to get involved! Talk to me, a Steward, Mark Downer or any member of the Church Council for more information about joining an Action Team.

In the New Year, we are going to hold a Vision Day – details still in process! You are invited! What vision do we have for this Church in five or ten years’ time? Please pray about that question, personally, and on a special prayer day on Saturday 17th January, 9.30 am – 1 pm (see page 5). I will be available to talk with you pastorally on this day about the Action Teams, and indeed the Vision Day itself might inspire you to join a team too.
